WeightWatchers: Week 66

Posted by WebCudgel | No Comments

After a great “Geek Sunday” (a group of friends get together once a month just to behave like total geeks for an afternoon away from our significant others) this past weekend, I was sure I had gained some (having a Texas Tea at Saltgrass Steakhouse really doesn’t help [and for those who don't know, that's a 32 oz Long Island Iced Tea]).

I was right, but not as right as I expected. I had only gained 0.8 pounds this week. Hurray! I considered that a win just because I had enjoyed myself on Sunday and had limited my gain to under a pound.

Amy and I decided mutually that it’s time to change it up a bit. We’ve been doing the Flex plan on WeightWatchers for over a year (actually, she’s been doing it even longer). I’ve given up on tracking points and stuff and just stuck to trying my best to eat healthy. We’ve both been very lazy and have let things slide too long.

So, for the change up, we’re switching to the Core plan, which means only eating foods from a select list. All of these items are actually just natural healthy choices with very few items containing fat or added sugar. You save your 35 points for any splurges you want to make outside the plan. What’s cool is that you are not limited on portions; you just have to limit yourself to eating until satisfied, not stuffed.

This meant that we had to stop at the grocery store and pick up a few things we wanted that would be necessary on the Core plan. Mostly we picked up fruit and a few boxes of whole-grain unsweetened cereal. Most everything else we already have a home. It’s going to mean a lot of grilled or baked meats and veggies with a very small amount of oil. It also means no cheeses, desserts, breads, potatoes and most dairy products (unless fat free). It will definitely test our resolve and force us to make new choices for each meal.

We’re not giving up without a fight. And I don’t plan on giving up. I’ve lost 28.2 pounds at this point and I don’t want to go back (in fact, I enjoy having jeans that are too baggy, belts that are too big with new holes I’ve added and shirts that don’t show my belly so much). Yeah, I’m not going back.
