Weigh-in: Year 3, Week 22

Posted by WebCudgel | No Comments

So, one week after the 1.2 pound gain, and two weeks after the 3.6 pound gain, I have a 2.4 pound gain. I know my birthday being this past weekend only enabled me to make a ton of bad choices. Let’s look over my goals from last week and see if I got anywhere.

  • I am going to cut back on my news feeds in Google Reader. I don’t have time to spend reading all the time (especially on stuff that I don’t do anything about). - Check! I did do this and it has reduced the time spent reading (though i did add a few others, but I eliminated LOLCats and HotDogz with their several-per-day posts).
  • I am going to focus more on taking care of the bills on a timely manner (I tend to forget a lot and make late payments and that adds to my overall stress). - Meh. I haven’t done much, but I’m not behind at this point. I have an email reminder to go over things and start scheduling reminders to pay bills.
  • I will make myself go to be earlier than I have been. This may mean missing out on some stuff, but if that stuff was the news feeds and worry about late payments, I’ll be sleeping better and won’t be missing much. - Nope. I failed at this one miserably. In fact, it was the reason I have had no workouts this week. And tonight is not looking good considering when I’m writing this.
  • I will get up when the alarm goes off and be ready to workout every morning. I won’t always be running, but I will be getting in some forms of exercise (100 pushups or my Wii Fit are appropriate when not running). - See previous response.
  • I will have my breakfast at home (instead of fast food) and make my lunch every day for work. - Meh. I failed on having breakfast at home more regularly, but I took my lunch four days last week and will do the same this week.
  • I will declare War on Sugar once more. However, as usual, my timing is impeccable as this Sunday is my 39th birthday. I will only allow myself to indulge when we have my birthday dinner. - This failed to get off the ground (see my journal entries below).
  • I will make time for what I want to do (I have so many unfinished projects). - Check. For anyone who keeps up with me on Facebook or Twitter, I have been working on a hymnal project I’ve been meaning to do for a few weeks. After this, I have another project related to the hymnal to work on, but I finally got the motivation to get started.
  • I will encourage my wife to join me in some of these commitments as well as having her help me meet some of these goals. - Check. She actually responded to my last weigh-in post with her thoughts on the situation. Now that my birthday is past, we can both focus on healthier eating.

This week’s gain means I have lost about 4 months of work to get to where I was 3 weeks ago. I refuse to go any further down this path. I decided last week to journal my food, exercise, state of mind and the following day’s plan each day and, with the exception of the weekend, I stuck to it. Below is a list of this past week’s entries:

Starting weight: 319.0 lb
Previous weight: 271.2 lb
Current weight: 273.6 lb
Current loss/gain: +2.4 lb
Total loss/gain: -45.4 lb
