Replacing a Kitchen Faucet

I’m not one to put family before most anything else, but today made me more than thankful for the family I have.

My wife and I decided it was time to replace the kitchen faucet, it was broken for the third time and we were tired of trying to find parts for the older faucet. It was not outside my means and ability to replace this… or so I thought.

After about 30 minutes, I managed to get many of the parts taken off except the main faucet. I called one friend close by who had plumbing and repair experience and foun he was out of town. Then I went to the next person that would be able to help me, my youngest brother, Chris.

He was able to come over (and brought his wife and two kids as well) to help me out. It turned out that after about an hour we finally had the main stem of the faucet removed. It had been soldered into place and would never be removed by normal means.

After that, it was easy to continue with the installation… though we found that the supply lines to the faucets were actually too short and required another trip to Home Depot to get the last parts we needed.

Overall, it went well, but it made me truly appreciate the family I have and love.
