Foil Shizzle

Okay, I didn’t come up with that title. It was on my receipt from Chipotle and it made me laugh. Chipotle rox!

You may have heard of “Murphy’s law”. I now present to you my “Early Lunch Theory”:

The earlier you go to lunch, the more likely an invite to join others for lunch will be made during or after your meal.

Today, halfway from my burrito bowl and iced tea, I got a voicemail from Amy asking me if I wanted to join her and her coworkers at 7Salsas restaurant. I had to decline, of course, as I would be rather full from Chipotle.

This is not the first time this has happened. As one who goes to lunch early on a regular basis, most other people I know cannot understand that concept or keep it long enough in their grey matter to remember. All they would have to do is contact me before I go to lunch and then the invitations would be accepted more regularly.

Alas, this seems not to be. I commonly go to lunch before 11:30a.m. This concept has been too foreign to almost every co-worker I have had. It mostly originates from actually working 6am-3pm at a previous job for a few years.

So if I have to turn you down, please don’t think I’m being anti-social. After all, I think the last thing you want is for me to accept and then eat so much that I explode because the waiter insists on stuffing one last mint in my mouth.

You just have to find people who share your same love of chipotle and who eat earlier in the day. My work place has two groups: those who eat early and those who eat late. The crowds rarely mix.
