| Weight Watchers - week 3 - Core Plan |
| Hey gang! Been a while since I’ve posted anything in my blog. Three weeks ago Charles and I started on a new plan on Weight Watchers, called the Core Plan. To-date, I’ve lost 5 lbs! Week 1 I lost 1 lb, last week I gained .4 lbs and this week I lost 4.4lbs for a total of 5 lbs. Needless to say, I was disappointed I didn’t lose more the first week and the second week I had a small gain. I just stuck with it and tried new recipes and even started back to working out last week, and viola!…the results are positive!
The Core plan consists of eating from a list of certain foods…mainly lots of vegetables, fruits, lean meats and high fiber foods with a limitation on rice being brown rice only. I’ve cut back on eating bread, portion-wise, and I only eat the high fiber bread, like whole wheat, whole grain, high fiber breads. I’ve cut back on dressings and try to stick with fat free products as much as possible. So far this has paid off. I feel like it’s a whole new program to me. For those of you who’ve known me a while. I’ve been on Weight Watchers for about 5 years off/on - mostly on, and have had many challenges over the years. These past 3 weeks have really given me inspiration that I can do this like I did the first year I was on WW…when I lost 50 lbs!
Just wanted to share this piece of news. If I can do this, I know those of you who are trying to lose some weight can do this too! |

Charles and I just saw a movie that our friends, Blanca & Jere, had rented called “The Holiday”. Here’s a link to IMDB’s webpage with some info about the movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457939/ . It’s about a couple girls who trade places and go on a “holiday”, basicly a vacation, from their normal daily lives. We both thought it was a really good movie. Out of 5 stars with 5 being the best I rated it “5″ at first. Charles rated it “4.5″ because of the language. I had to agree with him on that. There was only a little bit of language, but it really wasn’t necessary in the movie. In spite of that, the movie was very enjoyable! I loved Jude Law and Kate Winslet’s characters and thought everyone did a good job acting in this film. I didn’t think Jack Black’s character was shown enough in the film and felt like the other 3 main actors had more time on the screen, but if they did then the movie would have been longer. It was a lovable film and reminded me of being in love with Charles.
Hooray for love!

Hi all, I didn’t get around to updating my webpage last night so I’m trying this evening. I’ve been working out alot this past week. Only a couple more weeks left before that “couch potato” contest is over! I continue to challenge myself by doing a couple workouts a day during the week to try to get my totals as high as I can on # of workouts I’m doing. I have no clue where my team currently stands against other teams doing this contest. My teammate still hasn’t been working out so I imagine our # of logins may be dropping considering the possibilities the other teams may be reaching. I still won’t know for sure the results of this month totalling with the previous 2 months of this contest until the first week of April so hopefully we’ll come through with flying colors.
I haven’t noticed too much of a weight loss this month with stepping up my workouts. I believe it largely depends on how I am doing with my food intake. This week I did have a .4 gain, but it’s not too bad. I’ve noticed if I happen to eat all of my food points before I weigh-in at WW, then it affects my weight on the scale, and I have a feeling that’s why I saw a little gain on the scale this past week. I’m striving to do better and be better committed to program taking it one meal at a time.
That’s all for now. I hope everyone has a blessed week!

Hi all! I’m so excited to report that I lost 2.4 lbs this week! I lost all but .2 of what I had gained last week, which I thought was awesome to even had lost that much in one week! I must say that this week’s loss was largely contributed by my extra workouts I’ve been doing. I did a total of 8 workouts in one week, which is a lot for me. My old normal routine used to be maybe 3 days a week and rarely 4 days in one week here or there. I’m making progress and this “Adopt A Couch Potato” contest at work is helping me to push myself where as I wouldn’t have pushed myself as hard otherwise. I’m disappointed by the lack of contribution my couch potato partner has been lately. I don’t want to give up and it seems she’s allowed herself to be busy and not make time for herself or her committment to me in this contest. I’m not sure how to encourage her, other than I’ve told her we just need to try to do the best we can this month as it’s the final month of the contest. I’ll be glad when it’s over so I don’t have to stress about doing more than a typical person would do, but I feel like I can keep up with doing the 5 days week when the contest if over. I can feel the benefits of it. My body feels stronger. Hopefully that means I’ve built up my bone density. Gotta do what I can to help prevent osteoporosis later. There are so many benefits to being more active.

Hello once again!
I didn’t do too well last week with a little gain, but I know I can do better this coming week. This is the final month for the fitness contest at work and I’ve been trying to crank it up a notch. The team that is in 2nd place right now is only 1 point behind me and my teammate. I found out today from the fitness center mgr. that I’ve been carrying the load of my teammate…turns out my teammate only worked out about 7 times last month!!! No wonder we are slipping behind on what we could have had on our login numbers! I’ve been working very hard to make sure I workout 5 days a week and 2 of those days I managed to login twice. Thus, I am wanting to kick it up a notch this month. I’ve talked to my teammate and she’s going to try to do what she can, it’s just that she’s been swamped. I had no idea she was that busy. I really want to win this contest. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to achieve something like this and I just want to be able to say “I did it”. It would be nice to get the prize since I really want to buy some new gym shoes and maybe a workout bag. I’m not sure exactly how I’m going to kick up my workouts other than to attempt to workout at least twice a day and maybe three times a day on some days since I know one day this week I won’t have a chance to workout at all, which will throw off my routine. At least I only have to do minimum workouts of 20 minutes. If I do that 2 or 3 times a day then it makes for a really good workout. We’ll see how it goes!

Hey gang! I didn’t post last week because I didn’t do that well plus I got wrapped up in other things. I was crushed to find out that I had gained +5.6 lbs last week! I just didn’t pay attention to what and how much I ate last week. Tonight, however, I lost -1.2! So I’m heading in the right direction! Normally Charles and I weigh-in on Monday nights at our favorite meeting location, but we had an offer at the last minute on Monday afternoon that we couldn’t refuse!…free tickets to the Mavericks game that night in Charles’ company’s Platnium Suite! We couldn’t refuse with free tickets, free food and free parking! We had an awesome time as I’m sure Charles will get more into on his personal weblog soon.
I was so excited tonight that I had a loss of -1.2 especially after last night’s adventure! I do give myself credit for working out continuously for 5 days every week so far this month, plus last night I had lite beer and ate my food slowly, thus enjoying the moment at the Mavs game and the yummy food along with being in an awesome Suite! I think we take life for granted and we need to spend more opportunites taking our time like our ancestors did and enjoy the moments before they go away.

Well, I didn’t do too bad this past week. I was surprised to find that I still lost .2 lbs this past week. It’s not much but it’s still a loss. I was surprised because of being on antibiotics and sometimes it can make you gain weight. I’m pleased that I still had a loss this week. I’m very excited, however, for Charles for making his 10% goal this week!
Read his post for details.
There was a small part of me that felt slightly embarrassed that he’s made his 10% goal and I’m bearly at my 5% goal. I have to remember that with everyone their journeys will be different than mine. We all lose weight differently, especially due to being male or female since males can lose more than women. I’m making baby steps progress and that’s better than falling off the horse and not getting back on!

Hello again! It’s been a crazy week so thought I’d post now before the week gets away from me. I didn’t do to bad this past week. I had a .6 gain this week, but I had such a big loss last week I had kinda expected either a little gain or maintain this week. Charles and I have been under the weather recently. He’s now been diagnoised with a reflux disease and I now have the bronchitis! It’s actually gotten a little warmer around here lately but the weather is supposed to cool off again. Oh how I long for springtime to be here!
I also finally got my car back from the shop today. It’s been out a while due to the amplifier needing to be replaced. Once that was done, the dealership had to replace the blown fuses for the horn, radio, electric locks, electric mirror and interior lights, and then they had to reprogram the BMC (Body Control Module) - basically the computer brain of the car. Also, while the dealership had my car, they noticed a couple recalled parts needed to be replaced so they did that. My car runs great now….about $500 after repairs. Last month we had spent around $300 in repairs. I hope that’s all the repairs I’ll need to do this year, except for the maintenance things, of course!!!
These past 30 days have been about my car repairs and our health repairs…dang…that could get expensive!!

Wow, what a week! I managed to have a big loss this week of -4.6 lbs! I think my determination for working out Mondays-Fridays all month is finally paying off! My average loss for the month of January has been about 1 lb loss a week, which is great! I set a goal to lose 5 lbs this month, but at least I got close to that goal.
I’m gonna keep on trucking since the rewards sure are sweet!
