Daily Journey Entry

Posted by WebCudgel | No Comments

Today we took separate cars as Amy had plans to go to work early to make up for some long lunches.  Thus, I knew we would not get to work in time for me to get in my run, so I insisted on separate cars. I got to work a little earlier than usual so I could start my run even earlier.

Food:

  • Post-run (7:30am) - whey protein shake.
  • Breakfast (8:15am) - maple brown-sugar oatmeal (reduced sugar - I still don’t like plain oatmeal).
  • Snack (10:15am) - banana.
  • Lunch (11:45am) - 1 cup of leftover Indian dish, string cheese stick, 1/2 cup carrot salad, pear.
  • Snack (1:30pm) - 1/2 small chicken sandwich (7pt)
  • Snack (3:00pm) - banana.
  • Snack (4:30pm) - one Dove Dark Chocolate piece (1pt)
  • Snack (5:45pm) - handful of Cheetos.
  • Dinner (6:45pm) - 1 cup of leftover Indian dish (the last of it), 1/2 cup of brown rice, handful of Fritos, fat-free dip, 1/4 cup of carrots, pear.
  • Snack (8:45pm) - 1 small dark chocolate (60% cocoa).

Exercise:

  • 6:30am - 3.8 mile run in 44:54.53 for 841 calories burned and a max BPM of 162.  I decided to try getting back to doing some interval training.  So I did two 90-second sprints and five 60-second sprints.  The only difference between this time and previous interval runs was that I only slowed down to a walk once for 30 seconds.  Otherwise, I was jogging/running the whole time.
  • 12:15pm - 30 min walk.

State of Mind:

  • Exhausted.  Mostly due to lack of sleep, but I had a tough run today and a walk during lunch.  It’s almost 9pm and I’m about to call it a night.  The bible study I need to prepare will wait until morning (unless I get inspired before I turn off the bedside lamp).
  • Satisfied.  I have been getting hungry these past few days, but I’ve done well so far.  Only a couple of pieces of chocolate that break my Sugar Strike (thanks to my wife for coming up with that phrase instead of War on Sugar; sounds more like a peaceful protest than a full-scale assault).  I know I can do this.

Tomorrow:

  • Well, as I mentioned above, I have a bible study to prepare, but that rarely seems to be a difficult thing once a subject is reached.
  • We are spending the night at my brother’s house and plan on enjoying the evening at their place along with another couple (my wife’s best friend and her husband).  I’ll have to pass on any sweets, but I think it will be an enjoyable evening anyway.
