  • Lunch (11:00am) - curry ramen noodles, 1/2 celery sticks, 1 string cheese, handful of pretzels, 1 D’anjou pear.
  • Snack (1:00pm) - 100cal animal crackers (2pt).
  • Snack (2:30pm) - D’anjou pear.
  • Snack (3:30pm) - 1/2 cup carrot sticks, 18 roasted almonds.
  • Dinner (5:30pm) - Pei Wei Thai Dynamite chicken w/ brown rice, 2 cups Hot & Sour soup, 1/2 cup edamame, Mandarin Orange Green Tea.
  • Snack (9:00pm) - 1/2 fat-free flan cup (listed on the mfg website here (first item listed) and purchased at Wal-mart) (2pt).

Exercise:

  • 6:45am - 5.0 mile (8.05K) run in 60:00.40 with a max BPM of 164 burning 1,249 calories.  This was my first 5 mile in weeks and I need to push myself to work harder on lowering the time for this distance in preparation for my New Year’s Day run.  However, what slowed me down was doing interval sprints 3 times.  I decided on the 5 mile distance near the 2.5 mile mark where I turned around.  I had merely intended on doing intervals today for the usual 3.8, but I knew the only way to get ready for that next run is to start now.

State of Mind:

  • Content. (emphasis on the second syllable, not CONtent)  It’s been nice to see some fresh faces on Fatbloggers.net (one of the celebrating a birthday and a tremendous accomplishment).  I’m doing well this week on my Sugar Strike.  The flan this evening was to try it out (I split it with my wife).  It was a much lighter tasting version without it tasting fat-free though it was.  Just an all-around good day.

Tomorrow:

  • I packed my workout bag and set aside clothes so that I will do a workout at the company exercise room.  I plan on doing the elliptical, some ab exercises and possibly some weights again.  It’s been quite a while since I’ve done any of it, so it’ll be interesting how I do.  I’m especially curious if the running has any impact on my elliptical training.

Notes:

  • One of the members of Fatbloggers.net, Joshua, mentioned today on his twitter feed about making a ham and potato soup.  I asked him about it and he sent me the recipe, which I link here.  He said the only changes he made was to use only two cups of water and add beer to replace the rest, as well as adding two cloves of garlic.  I looked over the recipe and realized that the only “bad stuff” would be the butter, milk and ham.  When I try it, I will use turkey ham, skim milk and leave the butter as is (though, if this does okay, I may replace the butter with olive oil).  I have a few other ideas to change it up (including one idea of using sweet potatoes, vegetable broth instead of water and bouillion, and adding cinnamon in the place of garlic).  Man, I need to end this post.. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it and it’s almost 10:30pm!
