Avoiding Doggie Drug Abuse
Okay, so now I’m frustrated with the whole veterinary system. I’m sure they mean well and are trying to prevent people from giving medication to their animals that might kill them, but come on.
All I did was see an ad on TV for 1800petmeds.com and I went there and placed an order for heartworm medication for Jack. I decided on this because where I work now makes it nigh impossible to get to the vet before they close so I can purchase it.
Naturally, you have to provide information of the vet used for your animal. What I did not realize was that they have to contact the vet and get proof of a recent heartworm test. The vet just called me and told me that I have to bring in Jack for a test before they’ll permit the online pharmacy to send me the medication. So it doesn’t matter that I’ve followed the directions from the vet and given him the medication each month. They still don’t accept that as proof of the dog not having heartworms.
Thus, I now have to figure out how to get Jack to the vet so I can get the test done and start receiving the medications in the mail. Basically, I have to take time off to go to the vet so I can avoid taking time off to go to the vet. So messed up.
Anyone know of any holistic means of preventing heartworms? Just kidding.
