AFFD 2007
Over the last few years, my own outlook in an international direction has grown way beyond my days back at Aloha Technologies when the most adventurous of my eating was limited to a small family owned Chinese restaurant. However, as I started gaining friends of other nationalities and origins (and interests), I’ve found myself expanding my cultural curiosity.
Since Aloha, I’ve managed to try Indian, Pakistani, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese (Hibachi and Sushi) and Iranian foods. Then, last year, I had my first dive into international film viewing with the Asian Film Festival of Dallas where Amy and I saw a few movies on the recommendations of our good friend, David, a volunteer for the group.
This year, our interest in the festival grew and I was presented with the opportunity to have VIP passes through Time Warner Cable (we are one of the primary sponsors in coordination with AZN network). I accepted the offer and now Amy and I are attending the festival with even more enjoyment knowing we can see any of the films we want instead of being very choosy due to budget (of course, food is still on the list of expenses).
I encourage everyone to give other international films a try. You’ll be surprised just how much you learn and enjoy.
