War on Sugar II is a tremendous success. With the exception of what I consumed on Thursday in preparation for (and celebration of the completion of) the Freedom Run 5K, I kept pretty consistent in my aversion to sweets and sugars. I wasn’t perfect, but the only items I did consume were still very low in sugar (i.e., very dark chocolate).
In the end, I succeeded in losing 3.8 pounds. I made 3 5K runs total (one of which was the organized one) and one 3.8 mile (6.2K) run this morning. Dang, it was cold. Gonna have to switch to long sleeve shirts and probably jogging pants (and this will be the first time ever that they were put to their namesake use).
This all said, I know where my strongest weakness lies and will therefore limit my sugar intake to one dessert each week (most likely on Saturday as there are so many homemade goodies at church). I will slowly finish off the Powerbars I have at work and not buy any more. I will reduce my sugar intake for a long while (at least until the Feast of Tabernacles observance in October).
So, from now on, the war against sugar will continue. I will rescind the war only temporarily for VERY special occasions and still limit it to a normal serving. I will continue to lose weight and reach my goals. For now, I am 6.6 pounds away from my goal of 60 pounds by Turkey Day. It’s already looking good, but I’m not letting my guard down now.
On a side note, you can withhold your generosity as we finally purchased a Nintendo Wii for our home along with the Wii Fit balance board. I’ve put in almost 2 hours on the Wii already with most of it on the Wii Fit (and that extra exercise might have helped contribute to this week’s success). Amy and I are LOVING it and look forward to getting so much better at it. I can already see some improvements to my balance.
Until next week, rock on!
